SZA to Receive ‘She Is the Music’ Honor at Songs of Hope XIV
SZA will join the likes of Benny Blanco, Mike Will Made-It and Stephen Schwartz, among others, as award recipients for the evening supporting cancer research and treatment center City of Hope.
The She Is the Music honor recognizes female songwriters for their contributions to music and impact on culture. The female-focused distinction is named for the “She Is The Music” industry initiative, which is designed to increase opportunities and equality for women in music.
Outside of writing her own hit songs such as “Love Galore,” “The Weekend” and “Garden,” off her breakout album Ctrl, SZA also co-penned “What Lovers Do” with Maroon 5, “All the Stars” with Kendrick Lamar and “I Do” with Cardi B, among other standout tracks. She was also the leading female Grammy nominee in 2017, earning five nominations.
Songs of Hope XIV presented by Spotify will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13 at Alex da Kid’s KIDinaKORNER Kampus, in Sherman Oaks, California.
