Kanye West Thinks His ‘Yandhi’ Album ‘Will Come in Number 2’ to Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter V’
With his latest album, Yandhi, set to be released Saturday night (Sept. 29), Kanye West had a moment of humility on Twitter when he acknowledged that Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V would most likely best his forthcoming endeavor.
“We’re releasing Yandhi Saturday night. We know it will come in number 2 to my brother Lil Wayne and that’s lovely,” ‘Ye wrote. Though West has always relished competitive moments against his peers, with Wayne, he has relaxed in stance for the betterment of hip-hop. “The universe needs Ye and Wayne music at the same time,” he concluded.
Wayne and Ye’s friendly relationship stems back to their numerous collaborations in the studio, including their dazzling performance on the 2007 track “Barry Bonds.”
This week will certainly be a momentous time in hip-hop. For one, not only will two of rap’s biggest luminaries present their latest bodies of work, but Logic — who has morphed into a formidable talent himself, having notched back-to-back No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 — will be releasing his new album YSIV as well.
