Cabana Beach Curacao together with the CHATA Dive Task Force donate to CITRO
Willemstad, 19 February 2019 – On January 12, the CHATA Dive Task Force held its annual “After-Fuiking It All Up” Marine Debris Clean-up event. During the clean-up event the volunteers encountered many Cabana Beach Balls that were left behind. Cabana Beach Curacao took notice of this unfortunate situation and together with the CHATA Dive Task Force agreed to a donation of ANG. 2,500 to CITRO for their efforts and valuable contribution each year during the Fuikdag celebration.
On Monday, February 18 Cabana Beach Curacao officialized this donation with a small ceremony at the CHATA office, where Mr. Roelf Bos received a symbolic cheque from Elior Boeldak (Sales & Marketing Manager Van der Valk Caribbean). Also present during this ceremony were: Miles Mercera (President & CEO CHATA), Mark Pinnel (Vice Chairman CHATA Dive Task Force) and Hans Pleij (organizer After-Fuiking It All Up” Marine Debris Clean-up event).
“Curacao’s subaquatic life is one of the many things that sets our island apart from the others in the Caribbean. The commitment of the Dive Task Force to organize regular Marine Debris Cleanups is only the first step for sustaining and spreading awareness regarding our island’s ocean life. However, it is of immense importance that we all work together as a sustainable community to conserve our ocean. I firmly believe that with the assistance and teamwork of the entire community we can create a sustainable change and ensure our upcoming generation a healthier ecological marine life.”, thus CHATA’s president and CEO, Miles Mercera. Cabana Beach Curacao extends our most sincere apology for the pollution caused during Fuikdag and commits to contribute in 2019 to clean-up efforts to mitigate the effects of pollution on our island. Furthermore, we would like to thank CHATA & the CHATA Dive Task Force for their platform and facilitating our donation to CITRO.
